Hans has been adopted!!  He is home!!!

Hans owner passed away, and no family member could take care of him.  He is an older gent, but in decent shape.  His bloodwork is good, and he just had a dental.  He is current on his vaccines and heartworm negative.  He does like other Dachshunds, so he would fit in well to a home that currently has doxies.  His best friend is Snoopy!

Daisy came from a high kill shelter.  She was going to be transferred to another shelter, when all involved felt she would not pass the temperment test.  So she travelled to Fort Collins to come into rescue.  She is a domaniant female, and would do best with only a male doxie.  She will pick fights with other girls.  She would do best as the only dog, where she can be treated like the queen!  Her houseskills are great.

Moby was adopted out 3 years ago, and the family tearfully returned him, because they were victims of our economy.  They lost their job and their home and could no longer care for Moby.  Moby recently had his teeth cleaned.  He is big standard boy, and gets along with everybody.  He is just a sweet old man looking for his forever home.  Please don’t overlook Moby he is a gem!

Patches is a wiggle butt, happy, very busy young lady.  She has no time to set still for pictures!  She was a stray that ended up in a high kill shelter.   We beleive she is mostly doxie, but there is something else in her gentic make up as she is a tall girl!  Patches would do best iin a home with another young dog to wrestle and play with.

Capone ended up a stray at a local shelter, so we do not know much about his background.  He has since been neutered, which has helped his demeanor!  He does some time to warm up to strangers, but once he does, he is very happy, and boy can he run Fast across the yard!  He would do best in a home with no children, and a fenced yard!

Once in a while a Special dog comes along and really needs a home.  We are very happy to help Humphrey find his forever home.

Dolly was left in a small crate, abandoned in a local park.  At some point she has had a back injury, and she has recovered the best she could with out medical treatment.  Since coming into rescue, she has been spayed and had a dental, as well as her regular  vet care.  She does very well, with other dachshunds.  She does have a hitch in her giddy up, but she just keeps going.  She is a sweet girl, who would do best in an adult only home.

Heidi’s owner took ill and could no longer care for her.  Heidi is a strong willed little girl, and does poorly with strangers, but once she trust you, you are both best friends.  Her house skills are great, and she gets along well with other Dachshunds.  She would do best in an adult only home, with a safely fenced yard.

Barney has been transfered thru several shelters, and deemed to aggressive to handle.  Poor little Barney wasn’t agressive he was scared out of his mind.  Once he knows you, he is a goofy, happy young boy.  He would love to have another goofy young doggie friend to play with.  He would do best in an adult only home, and a big back yard to romp in.  Come meet this guy!

This is all I have to say about puppy mills…please learn from this.

Odie is a very sweet little guy!! He gets along really well with other dogs! He was abused at some point in life and is skittish with new men and kids, however does really well when he has another dog to give him confidence. Please do your research on this or any other breed you may be considering! Come meet him today!!

Yoshi is a hoot!! He is like a giant dachshund if there were such a thing, he looks almost like a doxie/bassett mix or doxie/beagle, who knows but he is adorable and very unique! He is looking for a home where he can be snuggled and loved on, he can be a bit shy at first but once he warms up he is a delight! Come meet him today!

Morris showed up at the shelter as a stray, severely malnurished.  He was adopted out and returned because he was hyper and chewed everything in sight.  The shelter reported him to be a three year old.  But based in his peraly whites, he’s a very young dog, maybe closer to 18 months old.  He loves to cuddle and sit contently on your lap.  He loves other dogs, and is a very sweet kind boy that would do well in any situation.

What a perfect Gent!  Feivel’s family could no longer care for him, so he was turned into a local shelter.  He is a very, sweet loving boy, who gets along with everyone, even babies!  He does have food allergies and must eat only Lamb and Rice.

Wheelie is the mom to Hershey.  They were breeder dogs, and a total of 5 dogs escaped and ended up at the county pound.  The breeder could only come up with enough money to bail out 3 dogs, so these two were left behind.  Wheelie is a sweet girl, whom has had to many litters, she is also blind.  She can see some shadows, but otherwise her world is a dark one.  Her boy, Hershey is a young, lively, trouble on wheels kind of guy.  She trys to keep him in line, but he is to busy being a puppy.  We would like to see them find their forever home together.

Hank and his father L.D. belonged to a young woman who could no longer afford to feed them.  A relative took them in and had them for a year, she could no longer afford to feed them.  And she couldn’t allow them to live in the house, so they spent all of their time in an outdoor run.  The have been to the vet for a checkup, vaccines, and HW test.  They are scheduled to be neutered.  L.D. is a kind loving boy, that readily jumps in your lap for loving.  As Hank only knows the outdoor run, he doesn’t know what to think about people.  But he is quickly learning, people are kind.  Both boys recently got a taste of peanut butter and cookies, and altho these were new experiences for them, they thought the PB was great!

Snoopy is a true mini, he’s previous owner said she was moving and couldn’t keep him.  He had no vet records and was intact.  His brother had an untreated back injury and was euthanised by his owners vet.  So Snoopy lost it all, his family, his home and his brother.  He is a very sweet boy and loves to cuddle and snuggle. Snoopy apperently spent most of his days outside, as his houseskills inside need some help.  So first things first, he got neutered and is learning the difference between inside and outside.

Max is homeward bound, he has been adopted!

Max’s previous owner of 2 weeks, turned him into a local shelter, because he darted out the front door, and chased a man.  We find this hard to beleive, as this little man is super sweet!  He causes no trouble at all, he gets along with other Doxies, and even went to the Vet for a dental and was prefectly behaved.  Because he is an Isabella in color he is suffering from the color baldness.  He has lost almost of the hair on his ears and back.  This is very common in this color and the “blue” dachshunds.  He has been tested for Thyroid and is negative, so we are trying a herbal supplement to regrow his hair.  To bad they don’t make rogain for doggies!  Come meet this sweet man!

LB has been adopted!

Lady Bird is a happy, go lucky little girl.  She was found running down a Colorado Interstate.  She was in heat and running free.  She has since been spayed and x rayed as she has a boney protrusion near her neck.  The x rays show that at some point, some how (We will let you fill in the blanks) her shoulder blade was split in half, and the front half moved forward and then reattached to the back half.  It is a bizarre break, and even stranger healing.  At this point nothing can be done, and fortunatly for this sweet, kind little girl it does not affect how she walks , runs or plays.  The only thing it really affects, is she can not wear a collar, as it gets stuck on the bone.  If you are interested in this sweet girl, and live in Colorado, please fill out the online application.

Rosie was turned into a local shelter.  She takes some time to warm up to men, but does great with women. it took her about 2 days to warm up to her gentle, patient foster Dad.   She really hated the male Doctor she had to see.  So a female Doctor would be best for her.  She does well with other dachshunds and likes to play.  Rosie would love to be the center of attention in her new home.

Schultz was a stray at a local shelter, he was terrified at the shelter and was unable to be examined.  We do not know anything about his past, but we are confident his future holds much joy for him and his new family.  When picked up at the shelter and carried out to the car for the ride home.  He leaned his head into his foster mom’s neck and pressed hard, and let out the biggest sigh!  At that point we knew his life had been saved for a reason.  Shultz lost a few teeth during his dental, and his bloodwork was good.  This little guy is healthy, but chunky.  He is very tender hearted and listens well, he also loves being with other Doxies.  Will you be the new forever family he is looking for?  If you live in Colorado please fill out the online application, to bring this gentleman home.

Mike and Ike were tossed over a locked fenced yard at a local shelter.  So we know nothing about them.  In their foster home, we are learning a lot.  They are bonded to each other, and they love to wrestle and play chase with each other.  They get along with other Dachshunds, but are so busy running after each other playing tag, that their foster siblings just set back and watch the circus in action.  They would love to have a big yard in their new home, so the antics can continue.

He can be an escape artist, so he will need a Dachshund proof fenced yard!  He would love to have another Dachshund to pal around with to.

Oliver was adopted out thru a local shelter, and returned because he was untrainable.  And at some point someone gave him a bad haircut!  He is working on growing that mess out!  He is very much a puppy, and LOVES playing with the other Dachshunds at his foster home.  He is crate trained, and never has an accident in his crate.  He loves to snuggle and play.  This is a sweetheart, that is having bad hair days, everyday!   He would do best in a home with another Dachshund to play with.  He is looking for his special Colorado home.

Allie was turned into a local shelter because she was no longer wanted.  She was reported to be nervous around men, and a cat hater.  She is doing great with her foster Dad.  She is a playful, joyful little girl.  She LOVES being outside, especially making snow pup angels.  Her housetraining is coming along, as well as her crate training.  She loves being with other Dachshunds.  She would do best having a Dachshund companion or two, and is quite adaptable with other family members.  She can be an escape artist, so a tight Dachshund proof fence is a must.  She is looking for her forever Colorado home.
