We really don’t know much about this sweet little girl.  She was brought in as a stray to the Casper, Wyoming shelter and was unable to walk.   The shelter believes the person that turned her in was her owner, but we didn’t even get her name.  This doxie is so sweet, I have to tell you all about the people involved in her shelter care.  One volunteer Kim went out of her way to help Freida.  She got her into a foster home, so she could get much needed crate rest and quiet healing time.  Then Kim set about finding a place in rescue.  But wen several National and Local Dachshund Rescue groups said no, Kim kept trying, that’s how special this girl is!  So Kim sent out one last plea to CODR, and the ball started rolling, Freida was on the next transport to Colorado.  Freida had some sort of neck injury which left her unable to use her front feet, she couldn’t even stand, now she is  walking and working to get some very extra poundage off.

Without Kim, this little dog would of perished in the shelter.  Thank You Kim for going the extra mile!

This Colorado Sweetheart is a Colorado Dachshund Rescue friend. All of our dogs, are spay and neutered, up to date on vaccines and are heartworm negative and on preventative. Most also have a dental done. We rehome close to 100 Dachshunds each year, and save many of them from certain death at local shelters. By working with local shelters, we are able to give them a second chance to find their new forever homes.
